As a foreign cultural experience, the Korean-style sauna known as a jjimjilbang is more than a place to sweat, functioning as a social hub where people rest, eat, and spend extended time together. Unlike the quiet, individual spa culture familiar to many Western audiences, jjimjilbangs are lively, communal environments with heat rooms, pools, sleeping areas, and snack bars. Gama reimagines this tradition for a global audience by combining authentic Korean heat-room and pool experiences with the playful, kitsch atmosphere of a contemporary café. The concept reframes wellness as a social and visually engaging ritual, guiding guests from heat portals and clay saunas into cozy lounges, snack bars, and community corners, and extending the experience through branded merchandise.
