Ernest Hemingway

Book Cover Design, Branding, Typography
This project reimagines the reissue of Ernest Hemingway’s novels through a fictional campaign. What began as a book cover redesign expanded into a full promotional set, including motion posters, bookmarks, notebooks, pens, and bookstore pop-up mockups. I developed two contrasting visual directions for the covers—each expressing the mood and themes of Hemingway’s work through distinct typographic and graphic systems. While the campaign is fictional, it explores how design can shape the way we revisit classic literature.

Book Reissue Commemorative Posters The motion posters were created by extending the primary book cover concept into a dynamic format, incorporating elements from both visual directions. By translating the cover design systems into motion, the posters capture the atmosphere of each novel while highlighting the contrast between the structured, digital aesthetic and the fragmented typographic expressions.

Primary Concept I created pixel-based illustrations to evoke the emptiness and fragmentation present in Hemingway’s themes of nihilism. These images were treated as graphic systems and used to construct covers with a more structured, digital aesthetic.

Secondary Concept I utilized symbolic photography and experimented with typographic composition to express the essence of each story—such as rain for A Farewell to Arms, the sea for The Old Man and the Sea, and bullfighting for The Sun Also Rises.
